I May Love You: A Refreshing Urban Romantic Drama with a Unique Plot

This year, there have been quite a few popular melodramatic idol dramas, but the sweet drama "I May Love You" is like a breath of fresh air that instantly refreshes the soul. The storyline of this urban romantic drama is set apart from others in its genre, making it more interesting than similar dramas like "Love as a Business." "I May Love You" is led by Wei Zhe Ming and Huang Ri Ying, and speaking of Wei Zhe Ming, he has played significant roles in two recent modern urban dramas, "Against the Wind" and "Love as a Business," showcasing his remarkable acting skills.

However, no matter how many supporting roles there are in idol dramas, they can't outshine the leading roles. Although "I May Love You" is a low-budget web drama, it holds different significance for Wei Zhe Ming and Huang Ri Ying.

To be honest, I had become desensitized to this type of sweet idol drama because the plotlines used by our domestic entertainment screenwriters are often quite similar. As a result, several recent big productions failed to capture the audience's attention. Unexpectedly, during a period of drama drought, I accidentally stumbled upon "I May Love You" and completely fell for it. It can definitely be called a dark horse among sweet dramas. Wei Zhe Ming's rise to fame in this drama is due to his own performance, but it's a bit unfortunate for Huang Ri Ying regarding her character's development.

The first four episodes of this drama are incredibly hilarious and entertaining. Huang Ri Ying portrays Tang Xin, the female lead, who is a writer and screenwriter. She has secretly loved her company's boss for four years, but one day she has to help her boss pursue her best friend.

On the other hand, Wei Zhe Ming plays Tang Yu, the male lead, who has high emotional intelligence but zero experience in love. In the beginning, he is oblivious to his feelings for the female lead and directly rejects her confession. However, he eventually realizes his affection for Tang Xin and starts pursuing her. What makes "I May Love You" interesting is that Tang Yu has a clear liking for Tang Xin, but he hasn't figured out his own feelings yet and is directly confessed to by her.

Although Tang Yu rejects her without mercy, it's because Tang Xin said she likes him because he's rich and good-looking, which offends him. Tang Xin is truly the boldest heroine I have ever seen in an idol drama. After being rejected, she first walks away but becomes angrier the more she thinks about it. In the end, she directly throws herself at him, passionately kissing him for three minutes without stopping. She even leaves a remark like, "The taste of Tang Monk's meat is just average." At this point, "I May Love You" can be described as a battle drama within an idol drama, with the interactions between the male and female leads filled with pink bubbles, making it sweet to the point where you can't help but smile.

However, the subsequent plot of the male lead's efforts to win back the female lead becomes a bit boring. It's probably necessary to wait for this phase to pass for the drama to regain its previous stunning charm. As the male lead in this drama, Wei Zhe Ming portrays Tang Yu, who is a typical domineering CEO often seen in idol dramas. However, thanks to his outstanding character development and Wei Zhe Ming's skillful acting, there's a refreshing sense of nostalgia. Unlike the toxic male lead in "Against the Wind," Tang Yu is a reserved and gentle character who always maintains a certain distance from others. Sometimes, he remains strictly professional, not showing much personal warmth. However, he secretly enjoys eating sweets, likes small animals, and is afraid of injections. He becomes talkative and incoherent in front of nurses. Once he determines his feelings, his flirting skills are impressive, making anyone blush.

With such an exceptional domineering CEO character and Wei Zhe Ming's undeniable attractiveness, he appears incredibly dashing in suits, making it easy to captivate the audience's hearts. But in idol dramas, it's not enough for the male lead to be outstanding; the female lead also needs to have strong chemistry with him for the couple to create a spark and for the drama's popularity to soar. In this aspect, there are some minor issues with the character development of the female lead in "I May Love You." Tang Xin has secretly loved the male lead for four years, with his pictures all over her house and her diaries filled with thoughts of him. Such intense emotions should make her more devoted and unyielding, especially after being rejected once. Furthermore, she was the one who forcefully kissed him, so she hasn't really suffered any losses.

However, Tang Xin has been acting like a victim afterwards, which seems a bit off. Moreover, the audience is watching for the sweet and affectionate plotline, and they don't want to be caught up in cliché misunderstandings and mutual torment.

Therefore, this time Wei Zhe Ming has the upper hand, and "I May Love You" should bring him a lot of popularity. Of course, as long as the later plot of the drama quickly resolves the misunderstandings, the sizzling chemistry between the male and female leads should easily surpass the popularity of "Love as a Business."

In conclusion, I have high hopes and great anticipation! #RecordingMy2023#
