01 Ruan Hei, Death by a Broken Leg

Since this expedition to the Underworld took place at sea, the Iron Triangle had two specific requirements. One was to find a sturdy and reliable ship, and the other was to find an experienced old fisherman as a guide. They found the Triton for the ship and Ruan Hei for the old fisherman. Ruan Hei was well aware of the dangers of the Underworld journey, but he was solely focused on making money and taking Duo Ling abroad to find her relatives. Therefore, he reluctantly took on this mission. Although Ming Shu was also a skilled helmsman like Ruan Hei, he spent most of the time drinking, relying on Ruan Hei to navigate through most of the dangers.

In the end, Hu Ba Yi and the others placed the largest pearl in Ruan Hei's mouth, fulfilling his wish as a Daman.

02 Gu Cai, Survived and Went to the United States

Gu Cai was a child rescued by Ruan Hei at sea. Although he called Ruan Hei his master, deep down, he always regarded Ruan Hei as his father. He wasn't curious about his own origins. His main reason for accompanying Hu Ba Yi to the Coral Spiral was to help his sister, Duo Ling. In reality, he was a descendant of the Hentian Ancient Country, a nation that had reached the pinnacle of copper usage. Unfortunately, the country later sank into the sea, and a small group of its people drifted on the ocean. They were eventually discovered by the rulers of the Qin and Han dynasties and given the name "Daman."

03 Duo Ling, Poisoned

Duo Ling, like Gu Cai, was an orphan rescued by Ruan Hei at sea. Although not biologically related, Ruan Hei took care of both of them like a father, showing special affection towards Duo Ling, hoping to help her find her long-lost relatives in his lifetime. Unlike Gu Cai, Duo Ling was the daughter of the old captain of the Mary Celeste. She was the sole survivor of the ship. When Ruan Hei saved her back then, he hoped that one day he could save enough money for her to reunite with her family abroad. Ruan Hei remained concerned about her future until his death. During the sinking of the Mary Celeste, her father intentionally poisoned the gold watch, originally intending to harm the Damans. In the end, he unintentionally harmed his own daughter. Perhaps he never expected such an outcome! The final volume, "The Coffin of the Wushan Gorge," is the Iron Triangle's risky adventure to obtain the Thousand-Year Corpse Elixir to save Duo Ling.

05 Da Li and A Hao, Devoured by Monsters

A Hao was Ming Shu's creditor. They were worried that Ming Shu would use the excuse of collecting sea eggs to escape, so they threatened Da Li and insisted on joining the expedition to the Coral Spiral. These two characters are not from the original work but were created for the TV series to increase the dramatic tension. Their greedy nature destined them for an unfortunate end. When they went underwater again, Ming Shu pretended to have back pain and refused to dive. After Hu Ba Yi and the others went underwater, Da Li and A Hao took control of Yang, the staff officer, and threatened Ming Shu to sail back. A Hao took the opportunity to search for the precious pearl but failed to find it. He went to the bottom of the ship and was devoured by the mermaids there.
