Burning Years: A Tale of Dreams, Brotherhood, and Tragic Endings
In the pursuit of wealth and power, Xu Wei Biao had always dreamed of becoming the boss. In those days, those who mingled in the underworld had their share of luxuries, provided they had luck on their side. Xu Wei Biao's character determined the fate of everyone around him. Zhang Peng was timid and cowardly, and if it weren't for Xu Wei Biao taking him under his wing, he would have never embarked on such a path, at most becoming a "pimp" at the station.
Wang Lei, with his strength but nowhere to use it, turned to underground fighting to earn money. Wang Lei was ruthless, but he knew all too well that a life in the underworld would lead to a grim end; his father had died that way. Huazi was different from them all. He came from a normal family, with parents who were ordinary people. He was never like Xu Wei Biao and the others.
Xu Wei Biao aspired to be the boss, Zhang Peng wanted to make money, Wang Lei and Zhong Yu Nan sought revenge. Only Huazi was hesitant about joining the gang but was persuaded otherwise by an old police officer. Originally, Xu Wei Biao ran a small company that collected protection fees, making some pocket change. It was through saving Zhang Peng that he met a smuggler named Diao Yu.
Diao Yu was also a loyal person. He and Xu Wei Biao made a lot of money through their collaboration, but they never anticipated a treacherous father figure. Xu Wei Biao's involvement in smuggling led to the death of his own child. After his wife miraculously escaped death, she saw through him and believed that Xu Wei Biao was beyond redemption, eventually leaving him.
In the end, Wang Lei and An Fei Ya both died at the hands of drug traffickers. After so many years of being in the business, Wang Lei, with his little brother in tow, went to Russia to kill the Russian mob boss. However, he failed to save any money and ended up associating with drug dealers to gather money for surgery. It was a pitiful fate for An Fei Ya.
Zhang Peng had been cowardly for many years. When the drug traffickers held a knife to his throat and asked him to kill, he didn't dare. Unexpectedly, in the end, he became a hero by infiltrating the drug den. With Xu Wei Biao's death, everything came to an end. In reality, they didn't have many choices. From the very beginning, their lives were determined by the circles they lived in and the connections they had.
