The South Sea Tomb: A Review of the Finale and Professor Chen's Deceptive Actions

After watching the finale of the web series "South Sea Tomb," my biggest takeaway is that Professor Chen was truly deceiving. Hu Ba Yi, Wang Pangzi, Shirley Yang, and Da Jin Ya had already made plans to go to the United States together, but due to Professor Chen's actions, they had to change their plans.

When Professor Chen made this request, he didn't actually verify whether the mirror on the ship was the Qin Emperor's Bone-Reflecting Mirror. He also didn't find out if Hu Ba Yi and Wang Kai Xuan had any experience at sea, or even if they could swim. He only found out about these facts when he had dinner with the two of them.

Ming Shu's two debtors were clearly expendable characters. In the end, both of them were left in the ruins, without even a complete corpse remaining. Their deaths were meant to be tragic, but even though Hu Ba Yi found a great tomb for Ming Shu and placed a large South Sea Pearl in his mouth, it was only a psychological comfort for the living. No matter how well the arrangements were made for the aftermath, it was just a consolation for the living.

This time was no exception. When they entered the Coral Spiral, they encountered a sea serpent. Inside the ruins, they encountered a giant octopus. When they descended to the seabed to find a way to activate the mechanism, they encountered a group of mermaids. Without exception, all these "ancient mythical beasts" were destroyed by the Iron Triangle. I wonder if Professor Chen had any knowledge beforehand about the size of the ship. Even if the ship didn't sink and only docked on the shore, it wouldn't be easy to find a small mirror that could be carried around on such a large ship.

If Professor Chen really wanted to return the national treasure, why didn't he hire a professional salvage team for the sunken ship? Hu Ba Yi and the others were only three people, and they had no experience in deep-sea salvage. Although they luckily found the "Qin Emperor's Bone-Reflecting Mirror," they had to destroy the entire Mary Celeste to escape from the giant octopus.

In the Dragon Ridge Cave, they found a piece of Fragrant Jade, which they later sold for a considerable price. From that point on, Hu Ba Yi and Wang Kai Xuan became wealthy. In the Yunnan Insect Valley, they brought out the Mu Dust Pearl, sixteen jade rings, and a jade embryo from the Zhe Long Mountain. However, the water in the bottle dried up, causing the jade embryo to wither, and the Mu Dust Pearl was a life-saving item that couldn't be sold. So, this time, they didn't make any money.

Everything they had was of high value, but in the end, they had to sell it all just to get by. The Iron Triangle, Da Jin Ya, Ming Shu, and Gu Cai started doing business overseas. However, in the TV series, the ending was changed, and even the South Sea Pearl became an activation tool. The Jade Scales and Golden Winged Mermaid lost their luster due to multiple bumps, and Hu Ba Yi had to hand over other items to Professor Chen for "research."

Therefore, the earnings from this trip were not much better than before. And the root of all these problems lies in Professor Chen's gullibility and blind trust. It can be said that he truly deceived and disappointed everyone.
