Popular Idol Dramas Dominate the Market, "One Thought, One Mountain" Receives Acclaim
Introduction: Last week's drama market was still dominated by idol dramas, with two out of three highly popular dramas being idol-themed. In terms of word-of-mouth, "One Thought, One Mountain," a historical idol drama, received the highest acclaim on Douban with a rating of 7.5. Last week, a total of 12 new dramas were released on major platforms, including one prime-time drama, four web dramas, and seven micro-dramas.
Among these new dramas, "Minglong Youth" generated the highest anticipation. In recent years, there haven't been many family-oriented educational TV dramas that align with the spirit of the times while also having commercial appeal. This drama, with its unique perspective focusing on the college entrance examination and an engaging storyline, resonates highly with young viewers in terms of both its narrative style and character development. Moreover, the cast members themselves have a significant following, further increasing its popularity among the mainstream audience.
In the micro-drama category, the highest-rated show last week was "The Bride," with a web broadcast index of 3808. Following closely behind was "The Secret Girl," which also performed well as a new drama of the week, along with "Invincible Stepmother." These emotional dramas targeting female audiences have become the most appealing genre in the micro-drama market.
Among the top 10 micro-dramas of last week, only three belonged to male-focused dramas, with "Return to 1993 Season 2" being the representative. The male and female leads, Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi, from the idol drama "One Thought, One Mountain," had the highest character index, thanks to the drama's high popularity and remarkable character design. This couple became the most attention-grabbing characters of last week.
Other influential characters include Mo Qingcheng and Gu Sheng, the male and female leads of the popular modern idol drama "Missing You So Much." Among the top 20 character indexes of last week, five characters came from "One Thought, One Mountain," including the main leads, Li Tongguang, Xiao Yan, and Yu Shisan. The outstanding performances of the supporting cast members added depth to this historical idol ensemble drama, which is a significant reason for its good word-of-mouth.
In addition to "One Thought, One Mountain," another drama that showcased remarkable characters fueled by high drama popularity was "Ning An Dream." Even after its conclusion, three characters from the drama continued to attract significant audience attention and made it onto the list. In contrast, "Minglong Youth," despite not having outstanding drama popularity, gained substantial recognition for its male lead, Lei Ming. After the drama aired, Lei Ming's witty lines frequently trended on social media platforms.
