The Last Immortal: A Sequel to 'Eternal Jade Dust' with Intriguing Character Transformations
The TV series "The Last Immortal" is a sequel to "Eternal Jade Dust." After watching the first eight episodes, it's not difficult to notice a significant change, not only in the plot but also in the names of the characters. For instance, the character "Shanggu" became "Yihe," "Bai Jue" transformed into "Di Juan," and even the name of the Demon Lord was altered. Originally based on Qingli, she is now called Qinglin in the drama, accompanied by several modifications to her background. After being punished and sent to the Nine Abyss Purgatory, she acquires the divine power of Xuan Yi and gains control over the Flower of Deicide, ultimately becoming the Demon Lord.
As A Yin, Gu Jin, and others search for the Phoenix Essence in the Nine Abyss Sha Prison, the Demon Lord Qinglin manages to escape from the prison and continuously consumes demonic pills to maintain her form. However, despite her formidable strength, she lacks the ability to overthrow the Three Realms. The opportunity arises as the Divine Realm is sealed off, but she proceeds cautiously even in attempting to seize a piece of the Phoenix Jade.
Of course, the Demon Lord has her allies in the Immortal Realm. She has two partners: Hua Shu and Hua Mo, the latter being Hua Shu's father. Qinglin and Hua Mo began their collaboration long ago. The reason for this assertion is simple: those who understand the whereabouts of the Gathering Demonic Banner can deduce when they started working together and why Hua Mo has always acted discreetly.
The Gathering Demonic Banner is a treasure of the demon race, containing the souls of many powerful demons. By utilizing the banner, one can mobilize numerous demon spirits, effectively possessing a formidable demon army. When the previous Demon Emperor, Sen Jian, met a tragic death, the Gathering Demonic Banner disappeared along with him. As revealed in the original source material, Peacock King had already collaborated with Qinglin in the past. Together, they killed the Demon Emperor Sen Jian. However, it was Qinglin alone who was ultimately punished and sent to the Nine Abyss Purgatory (Nine Abyss Sha Prison). Many years later, Peacock King and the Demon Lord join forces once again. Not only does Peacock King, Hua Mo, assist the Demon Lord in ascending to the Divine Realm and killing the Heavenly Emperor Lan Feng, but they also collaborate to kill the current Demon Emperor, Lin Sen.
It's unfortunate for the Demon Emperors as all three have been plotted against and killed by the Demon Lord Qinglin and Hua Mo. They caused the death of Sen Jian and took the Gathering Demonic Banner from him. As for Lin Sen, he was also murdered by this pair. The third Demon Emperor, Hong Yi, fell victim to their schemes as well. Hua Mo and the Demon Lord collaborated on multiple occasions, with the Demon Lord possessing Hong Yi's body, annihilating the Da Ze Mountain, and using Hong Yi as a scapegoat. Later, when they killed Lan Feng, it was these two who framed Hong Yi, inciting a war between the demons and immortals, all for their personal gain.
Hua Mo and Qinglin had long been working together, intending to bring calamity to the Three Realms. However, their so-called collaboration was merely a matter of mutual exploitation. Eventually, both paid the price for their schemes.
