Review of the Drama 'The Last Immortal' Starring Zhao Lu Si: A Mix of Praise and Criticism

In December 2023, when it was believed that there would be no outstanding dramas released, "The Last Immortal," starring Zhang Ruoyun and Huang Yao, unexpectedly gained popularity. It received positive reviews and remained highly anticipated after only two days of airing. The overall production quality was considered decent, with well-designed scenes and impressive special effects. The post-production editing also had few flaws, making it unexpectedly enjoyable.

However, this drama was not without controversy, especially regarding the actors' performances. According to external evaluations, although Zhao Lu Si, the female lead, had a good appearance, her acting skills were not significantly improved. There were issues with her pronunciation, original dialogue delivery, and numerous flaws in her performance. When her character first appeared, the exquisite makeup and gorgeous costumes gave a sense of nobility and luxury.

Her smile added a touch of warmth, and her natural portrayal of crying scenes was emotionally captivating. Another well-known actress, Ying Er, portrayed the character Hong Ruo, the fox queen of the demon realm, in "The Last Immortal." Ying Er's acting skills were consistently solid, and she effortlessly brought depth to the character.

Yan Yuan Cao Fei Ran played the supporting role of Hua Shu and had the most stunning appearance among the cast. When this character first appeared, dressed in a red gown with delicate makeup and bright eyes, she immediately exuded grace and elegance. Unfortunately, due to an unintentional action by Gu Jin, the immortal element of the little Phoenix disappeared. When the Emperor questioned this incident, Hua Shu avoided eye contact, clearly unwilling to admit her involvement.

Criticism mainly targeted Zhao Lu Si's pronunciation and delivery of original dialogue. Without subtitles, it was often difficult to understand what she was saying. Complaints about her voice being nasal and swollen were common, and her voice alone made some viewers lose interest in the drama. On the other hand, Zhao Lu Si showed improvement compared to her previous works and characters. In some scenes, her performance appeared more relaxed and natural, without the feeling of being overly "stiff."

This progress in her acting is the result of accumulated experience in portraying various roles, and there is anticipation for her to bring more lively characters in the future.

Overall, "The Last Immortal" has an intriguing story design, and the characters, including several beautiful supporting actresses, are well-developed. While Zhao Lu Si, as the female lead, received some criticism, there may be different presentations in the upcoming episodes. What do you think of Zhao Lu Si's acting skills?
