Derailment: A Disappointing Drama with Poor Acting and Unconvincing Plot

Unfortunately, it turned out that the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment. The premiere of the drama immediately fell into various negative discussions, with the plot, casting choices, and acting performances all failing to impress the audience, making it one of the worst dramas of the year. Even this highly anticipated sweet romance drama turned out to be of such poor quality, so there's naturally no hope for those lesser-known sweet romance dramas without any buzz.

"Derailment" received negative reviews right from its debut. The plot was melodramatic, clichéd, and full of absurdities. The story incorporated time-travel elements to add suspense and dramatic effect, and it began with a contrived conflict between a wealthy young lady and her best friend. The female lead appeared as a privileged heiress with a circle of loyal friends and a loving boyfriend, but in reality, they were all just pretending to get close to her for her wealth and status.

While one side portrayed her as a naive and innocent character, the other side depicted her as a mean-spirited heiress. When she saw her friend wearing the same scarf as hers, she arrogantly exposed her in public, showing no mercy. During her search for her friend, she got into a car accident and unexpectedly traveled back in time. Meanwhile, the male lead was searching for his friend and found only a cell phone.

Apart from the weak plot, the casting of the female lead in this TV drama single-handedly dragged down the entire production. Liu Hao Cun's portrayal of the female lead didn't match the expected image and temperament of a first female lead. The characterization throughout the story was confusing, and it was impossible to see her as a wealthy young lady.

In the scene where she appeared, with wavy curls and fiery red lips, she resembled more of a bar-hopper than a refined lady. Her demeanor was arrogant, her expressions sly, and she seemed cunning and conceited. Even in the scenes where she scolded her boyfriend and friend, she acted nonchalant and carefree, completely unrelated to the character she was supposed to portray.

Liu Hao Cun's performance consisted mostly of wide-eyed stares and teary eyes. She relied solely on crying and looking sad throughout the drama, leaving the audience to interpret her emotions. Even in the scenes where she learned about her parents' death, her crying scenes lacked depth, and she shed tears while trying to appear cute and pitiful, completely failing to convey a sense of sadness.

For most of the drama, the female lead seemed to be in a vacant and unfocused state, with her pupils constantly dilated. She appeared emotionally detached, even when she encountered the male lead, who came to help her because she was broke after time-traveling. It was as if she was being controlled like a puppet, and it was painful to watch. After comparing the premiere with the trailers and posters, it finally became clear that good-looking trailers and posters don't necessarily guarantee a good main drama.

"Derailment" not only had an absurd plot but also featured a highly uncomfortable performance by the female lead. It seems that no matter how many new works are hyped up by the capital, they ultimately end up disappointing the audience.
