The Unexpected Connection: Ayan, the Savior of Guijun, in "The Last Immortal
Who would have thought that Ayan turned out to be the savior of Guijun, Xiaoyan's life. Her presence on the Reincarnation Bridge for a thousand years was a repayal by Xiaoyan for saving his life. In the original novel "The Last Immortal," Ayan and Xiaoyan have a great relationship because when they first met, Ayan used half of her spiritual power to save Xiaoyan's life.
Xiaoyan, the Ghost Lord, and Aoge, the Ghost King, were originally twin brothers who were born in the ancient divine realm 110,000 years ago. Aoge, the younger brother, was appointed by the Four Great Gods as the Lord of the Heavenly Palace and responsible for life, while Xiaoyan, the older brother, was appointed as the Lord of the Ghost Realm and responsible for death. To gather spiritual treasures from the world to heal his brother, the Ghost King Aoge specifically built the Xuyan Tower, intending to exchange tokens for spiritual treasures from the heavens and the earth. However, the results were minimal.
Just when Xiaoyan's inner core was about to collapse, a group of people from Gujinn came to the Xuyan Tower in search of the Phoenix Hidden Immortal Yuan from the Zhongling Palace. During their first encounter with Ayan, Xiaoyan immediately recognized her as the disappeared Shuining Beast for 60,000 years. If Ayan's healing power could assist him, Xiaoyan would be able to fully recover from his injuries. So, he readily handed over the special-grade token to them.
Ghost King Aoge did not prevent Ayan and the others from leaving because he could see from Ayan's eyes that she actually wanted to accept this transaction. As expected, after Ayan deceived Gujinn and Hong Yi, she returned to the Zhongling Palace. However, although Aoge and Xiaoyan wanted Ayan to offer her spiritual power, they once again reminded her that the Shuining Beast's power was equivalent to her lifespan and urged her to consider it seriously.
As expected, Ayan willingly sacrificed half of her life to fulfill Gujinn's wish. In order to reshape Ayan's immortal body, Xiaoyan devised a method of reincarnation, allowing Ayan to undergo countless rebirths and cultivate an immortal body. However, for some unknown reason, Ayan never lived past the age of twenty in each incarnation, so Xiaoyan had to meet the reincarnated Ayan at the Reincarnation Bridge every decade or so. They would argue, banter, and share their experiences in the mortal realm, like two longtime friends.
In fact, Xiaoyan had long regarded Ayan as the closest person to him, second only to Aoge. Therefore, he erased the memories of Ayan and Gujinn's relationship, and whenever Gujinn came to the Ghost Realm in search of Ayan, Xiaoyan would intervene to prevent their encounter. In his eyes, Ayan was willing to sacrifice half of her spiritual power for Gujinn, but Gujinn, for the sake of his position in the immortal realm, ruthlessly harmed Ayan. Such a person is unworthy of Ayan's love.
