Because this group of viewers is already well-acquainted with this type of storyline, "The Forensic Examiner Song Ci" may give them the impression that the scriptwriters lack intelligence. Another disappointing factor is that this mystery drama lacks the necessary seriousness and often relies on humor and entertainment as its selling points, oblivious to the fact that these so-called highlights actually harm the plot and make the entire TV series appear more like a farce.

Even in terms of costume design for the actors, this TV drama directly presents a demand for the appeal of period idol dramas rather than pursuing authenticity. It is understandable that a TV drama with limited production budget emphasizes the idol atmosphere rather than the authentic atmosphere of the Song Dynasty. In reality, the clothing of the Song Dynasty was indeed beautiful. However, this TV drama lacks the ability to ensure the authenticity of the costumes. In terms of performances, these actors are also following outdated approaches that were prevalent twenty years ago.

Twenty years ago, this type of comedic period drama was popular. Many actors easily adapted to this playful and humorous performance style. Yet, it was this kind of frivolous acting that harmed many actors and caused them to lose their audience. Later on, when they wanted to perform well, the audience no longer gave them the opportunity.

The director of "The Forensic Examiner Song Ci" once mentioned in his personal profile that he is one of the three literary talents of the post-80s generation, alongside Han Han and Guo Jingming. However, judging solely based on the level of "The Forensic Examiner Song Ci," his skills are truly incomparable to Han Han and Guo Jingming—even though the latter two's skills are also quite low.

At the very least, Guo Jingming understands the essence of flamboyance. In "The Forensic Examiner Song Ci," even the ability to portray flamboyance is lacking.
