TVB's Concerns Materialize as Ratings Plummet for "You Are Not Her

TVB General Manager, Eric Tsang Chi-wai, expressed concerns about the performance of the successor drama "You Are Not Her" during the finale event of "News Queen." He worried about how to sustain the viewership after the success of the previous series. This sparked discussions among the public. Now, his concerns have indeed come true. Some may argue that "News Queen" had a three-week run, while "You Are Not Her" only had one week, so the latter shouldn't shoulder most of the blame.

However, the issue is that ratings are announced weekly. "News Queen" garnered ratings of 231 points, 226 points, and 23 points in the last three weeks, with an average of 229 points. This is 22 points higher than the combined ratings of 207 points when "You Are Not Her" aired. Therefore, it is clear that the drastic decline is entirely the responsibility of "You Are Not Her." To be fair, having the two main actors join different dramas might have brought some surprises to the audience. But Ding Zi Lang and Feng Ying Ying together are a winning combination, and TVB's decision to cast these two relatively new actors who lack a strong fan base in a leading role is simply a reckless move driven by financial gains.

Of course, even if "You Are Not Her" is bad, it still occupies a prime time slot and benefits from the success of "News Queen." It should not have dropped below 17 points. I even have an absurd speculation in my mind: TVB frequently purchases expired non-hit dramas, not only to save costs but also to fill the time slots of their self-produced dramas that are going downhill.

Entering the new year with dismal ratings can only be described as a black start. Both TVB's prime time and secondary prime time slots lack good dramas and face significant viewership pressure. Even the long-running family drama "Come Home Love: Happy Courier" is clearly entering a declining phase. Shouldn't the drama production department take responsibility? There is still time for adjustment and optimization. Let's not delay any further.
