The Fulfillment of Cheng Bing's Journey: Understanding the True Meaning of "Living Well
Qi Shu once told Cheng Bing four words, and it was only at the climax of the story that Cheng Bing truly understood the profound meaning behind "living well." Cheng Bing himself apprehended Wang Da Yong, and his fulfilling ending was actually the result of mutual fulfillment among three individuals.
Therefore, when Cheng Bing later searched for clues about Wang Da Yong with Miao Miao, he proceeded with great caution. He knew that Miao Miao had not been faring well over the years and treated her as if she were his own daughter, allowing her to experience the fatherly love she had been missing. With the eldest son fleeing and the younger son passing away, the mother, burdened with the loss of her two sons, began to lose touch with reality.
Even her granddaughter had left, leaving her alone in the nursing home. In such circumstances, being lucid became more painful than being delusional. When Cheng Bing visited Wang Da Yong's mother, she mistook him for her own son and saw the happiness in Cheng Bing, as if he were a child.
Cheng Bing and Miao Miao truly resembled a father and daughter, more like friends. After Miao Miao learned about the estrangement between him and their daughter, she secretly went to meet Tong Tong. After all these years, Tong Tong had never been able to forgive her father for his absence during her childhood. She viewed him as selfish. When Tong Tong saw her father again as an adult, she pretended not to recognize him, unsure of how to face him now.
The mutual fulfillment among Cheng Bing, Miao Miao, and Wang Da Yong's mother brought about the fulfillment of all three individuals. Despite losing two sons, Wang Da Yong's mother still had her granddaughter's companionship. Through Cheng Bing's journey to find Wang Da Yong, the people and events he encountered taught him that the outcome may not be as important as he thought.
Miao Miao lost her parents at a young age and wandered alone until she encountered Cheng Bing, her uncle, who taught her how to live. It was inevitable that Wang Da Yong would be apprehended in the grand finale, and Cheng Bing's fulfillment was not only a resolution for the past "The Lonely Warrior," but also a fulfillment for his own life.
