Plot Synopsis
After the explosion at the chemicalplant, Judge Luo Yuan from the Administrative Court of the HighPeople's Court of LingjiangProvince formed an inexplicable bond with Xia Wei Dong, an environmental engineeringprofessor at Lingjiang University. At the same time, Judge Geng Nian, who hadparted ways with Luo Yuan in thepast due to ideological differences, found himself involved in a scandal of chemicalplants illegally discharging wastewater while handling a lawsuit at a grassroots court involving a massive compensation claim for a "chemical boss assaulting villagers" case.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Justice Qu Heping of theProvincial High Court was activelypromoting judicial reforms in environmentalprotection. With innovative thinking, he arranged for Luo Yuan and Geng Nian to assist Judge Lin Hai Lan from the Intermediate Court's Criminal Court, who was caught in apublic opinion whirlwind due to a case involving the buying and selling of golden eagles. The three judges formed a "combined administrative, civil, and criminal" trial group, pioneering the establishment of a brand new environmentalprotection trial chamber.
The establishment of the environmentalprotection chamber marked a new chapter in LingjiangProvince's environmentalprotection judiciary. With the strong support of environmental expert Xia Wei Dong, the three judges actively handled a series of complex and highly specialized environmentalpollution cases involving illegal fishing, indoor decorationpollution, illegal trading of nationallyprotected animals, deforestation caused by waste acid, illegal sand mining, and illegal dumping of waste. They continuously explored innovative judicial concepts and, with determination and courage, brought the chemical giants who traded economic benefits at the cost ofpolluting rivers and destroying the environment, the black forces who disregarded the law, and the government officials who covered uppollution and neglected their duties to justice one by one.

Commissioned by Lawyer Su, she went to Hengtou Village to investigate. Wearing a mask, she endured the foul smell and meticulously collected samples during the on-site examination, displaying the dedication of a true scholar.
When confronted by a troublesome villager who threw bullfrogs into her car, she didn't flinch. She parked the car, picked up the basket of bullfrogs, and poured them back onto the leader.
It was beyond cool! I've only watched a few episodes, but I'm already deeply impressed by Professor Xia Wei Dong's charismatic personality. Chen Shu's portrayal is truly excellent!
As Luo Xiang once said, many people who study law carry the arrogance of legal professionals and end up losing their humanity. Indeed, judges can gradually become numb, grow weary, and even become indifferent to the overwhelming number of cases.
However, Luo Yuan has always stayed true to his original intentions. He is able to empathize with the parties involved from an individual perspective, but without excessive personal emotional involvement.
Sympathy and extreme hatred are two sides of the same coin. While it demonstrates the simplest sense of justice by speaking up for the weak in showcasing the goodness of human nature, it is also a double-edged sword.
Excessive personal emotional involvement is the professional ailment that judges fear the most.
I've always thought that environmental issues were just empty slogans. It's only as I grow older that I realize how shallow my knowledge is. It's ironic to mock those who are actually making a difference in areas of knowledge that we don't understand, as if everything can be achieved instantly.
It takes time and confident accumulation to make progress gradually. May all those who watch this drama be inspired and develop an environmental consciousness together.
The pace of the case is fast, and it feels like environmental protection is incredibly difficult. Watching Gao Wei Guang play the judge, not only getting drenched from head to toe by the protesters but also facing obstacles when applying to the superiors due to the lack of precedent, hearing him say that his client, a land and river without lawyers, really touched me!
