This drama is absolutely amazing, and it's so enjoyable! It's cheesy, sweet, and hilarious. The actors and their characters are a perfect match. The male lead is handsome and funny, Chen Xing Xu is truly suitable for the role. At first glance, he may not be conventionally handsome, but the more you watch, the more attractive he becomes.
And the second male lead, just by looking at his face, you know he's the one who brings the laughs. The plot flows smoothly, without feeling tedious. I really hope it becomes a big hit. This drama has made me realize that Zhang Ruo Nan is the perfect fit for the stubborn female lead.
The director is also fantastic. I've known about Chen Mingzhang for a long time, and I've always felt that he's like Liu Junjie, the director of "Love O2O." The camera work can be a bit repetitive, but this drama doesn't have those overly repetitive shots like in "Diamond Lover." It really matches the current trend of storytelling and it's truly captivating!
It's fantastic!
Dong Shan, despite his age, has achieved success in his career, indicating personal capability. It's possible that Xiao Mei is attracted to him, but it's also possible that she's drawn to his wealth. Even if she didn't know about Dong Shan's wealth before, once she finds out and then walks away empty-handed, it's doubtful anyone would be able to accept that.
When you don't possess something, it doesn't matter, but the feeling of losing it after having it is not pleasant. It's quite foolish for a man of his age and experience to still be so naive about love.
How could they possibly become roommates right from the start? And how can the male lead's insomnia be cured by the female lead? Remember, this is an idol drama. Idol dramas are all about watching handsome men and beautiful women in sweet romantic relationships.
Even the professor in "My Love from the Star" is an alien, is that logical? This drama actually respects the profession quite well compared to other idol dramas. The cases are not overly suspenseful, and as the story progresses, the problems faced by the main characters become more realistic.
Don't judge the drama based on just the beginning, if you don't like it, then don't watch it.
The adaptation of the insomnia storyline is actually done quite well. In the novel, the character's bad temper is initially portrayed as a direct and innate trait. But in the drama, it's like the character has transitioned from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, with many invisible aspects visually presented.
It definitely amplifies the flaws of this personality trait, linking the bad temper with insomnia. This helps the audience better understand the character's disposition. When I can't sleep well, my temper worsens, and with a bad temper, I become very sarcastic.
The character's tsundere nature is preserved, and the outward manifestation of being sharp-tongued is rationalized.
The more I watch, the more I like it. Qian Heng's way of comforting people is a bit unique. As a straight guy, he genuinely tries to help Cheng Yao by diverting her attention, taking her to the supermarket, and insisting on paying for things while pretending to be tough!
Qian Heng may talk tough, but he has a soft heart and strong determination.
Why do so many people blame the female lead? Isn't Bai Xing Meng the mastermind? The female lead is just a manipulated pawn. Xu's death is not fundamentally her fault, right? Among the reasons for Xu's death, 99.9% is because of Bai.
The remaining 0.1%, even without Bai's involvement, Xu could still have ended up committing suicide. But in order to clean herself up, Bai used the female lead to stop Xu, ultimately pushing him towards suicide with that 0.1%. It's interesting to see many viewers blaming the female lead, which indirectly proves how successful Bai's strategy was.
She made all of you overlook the 99.9% she was responsible for.
I've been following this drama from the beginning and haven't stopped. It's rare to see a modern idol drama as good as this. When it first aired, some netizens pointed out that the female lead's ability to cure the male lead's insomnia with her singing was a major plot twist.
But I thought it was okay, considering I've seen even more fantastical dramas. The male lead's respect for women and the female lead's independence, personality, and so on are all very attractive.
However, when I caught up with the whole drama, I discovered a major plot hole. The last few episodes felt rushed and gave a sense of an anticlimax. There were so many things that could have been explored in detail, but they were summarized too simply.
At that time, because the drama's updates were a bit slow, I decided to read the novel of the same name. It felt even more immersive, and while reading the novel, I felt that the male and female leads were the perfect choices for this story.
I remember one plot point in particular, where the male lead, as a lawyer, had witnessed too many ups and downs in marriages and insisted on remaining childfree.
When the two of them first got together, they didn't discuss this issue in detail, and it led to a serious disagreement later on. During the time when the male lead was away on a business trip, not only did Liang Yi Ran bully the female lead in the drama, but it also made the female lead realize their different ideologies.
The female lead always believed that there is still genuine love in this world, so she wanted to have children and didn't want to be childless by choice (DINK). Therefore, she decided to break up.
This plot is really rare, especially in idol dramas, where the female lead decisively breaks up. When I watched this scene, I was thinking that if it were in that drama, it would definitely be a highlight.
However, this plot was deleted in the drama, which resulted in a different development later on. In the novel, the male lead changes his mindset and decides to join a variety show to win back the female lead.
The description of this event was much more detailed. But in the end, only half of the last episode of the drama was used to describe this event. In summary, it's a bit unsatisfying.
The words spoken by Qian Heng in this episode are so touching! He upholds the principles of procedural justice and legal justice, which are essential for maintaining the normal functioning and progress of society.
This drama conveys such a strong positive energy! It's as if the creators of this drama have recognized and showcased an excellent lawyer, not only existing in the fictional world but also in our reality.
Indeed, the female lead's character is conflicted. She wants to care, but it feels like a restraint, and she wants to be distant and cold. It's quite contradictory. Let's call it Keely. Is it necessary to create conflicts between the female lead and the male lead just to highlight the female lead's individual abilities?
A strong character should come from within, not this kind of sudden enlightenment or self-admiration type of strength. Also, is the communication between the male and female leads efficient as lovers? There's no need for unnecessary conflicts just for the sake of conflicts.
Lastly, the female lead's soft and tender expressions, eye rolls, and acting skills can only be described as cute. It doesn't portray the inner strength of a powerful woman. The male lead's character development is better, although in the later stages, they also tried to strengthen the female lead's character and downplay the male lead's professional abilities.
