Plot Synopsis

"Wind Direction" tells the story of the youth and growth of the children of oil workers in the 1990s. It follows two generations as they navigate challenges together, celebrating the small heroes amidst the waves of a changing era.

17-year-old Cheng Miao Miao and sixteen-year-old Cheng Ya Ya are bointo a family with three generations of oil workers at the Linqi Oil Field. Their father, ChengPeng Fei, is an ENT doctor, while their mother, Jia Dai Yu, works in logistics for a transport team. The family has relocated from the northwest to the coastal town of HePing.

In the late 1990s, Miao Miao yearns for the outside world andplans an adventure to "welcome Hong Kong's return" with her childhood friend Li Si and her best friend Hu Qiu Min during their summer break. However, things don’t go asplanned. Meanwhile, younger brother Cheng Ya Ya finds himself in trouble while exploring an archaeological site in the mountains, nearly mistaken for a tomb raider. Their mother, Jia Dai Yu, is exasperated, and the siblings embark on a chaotic high school life.

Miao Miao faces a crisis in her relationshipwith Li Si, while Ya Ya stands upfor Yuan Shan Qing, the daughter of a wanted criminal who transfers to his class, becoming herprotector against hostility. As the children experience these changes, they leaand grow along the way.
