Plot Synopsis

**Sowers of Hope** is a heartfelt tribute to teachers, reflecting the changes in rural education in northeasteGuizhou. It tells the story of rural educators over the years.

Beginning in 2002, the narrative follows An Yan (played by Tong Li Ya), a recent graduate assigned to teach at Heping Middle School in Changzhi County. Coming from an urban background, An Yan initially struggles to adapt to the rural school’s environment andphilosophy. However, as she interacts with her students and conducts home visits, she gradually recognizes the importance of rural education and feels a sense of being needed.

Inspired by the oldprincipal Yu Tian and the currentprincipal Fu Sheng Zhi, An Yan embraces the educationalprinciples of "guarding" and "nurturing," ultimately becoming a well-respected teacher known far and wide.

Spanning 20 years, the storyline illustrates An Yan’s transformation from an outsider to a dedicated educator committed to improving the educational environment. By 2012, she becomes the viceprincipal responsible for logistics at Heping Middle School, where she implements a "nutritional lunch"program. In 2016, she is appointedprincipal of a school for relocated families, where she faces the challenges of a weak educational foundation and complex student demographics, leading a team of dedicated rural teachers to create a better learning environment for the children.

Utilizing a nonlinear narrative, **Sowers of Hope** starts with Cong Jun Sheng (played by Yang Le) coming to Heping Middle School to teach in 2012, interspersing An Yan’s memories from thepast decade. Ultimately, itpaints a vividpicture of 20 years of rural education development. This series not only highlights the struggles and dedication of rural teachers but also reflects the changes and challenges in rural education, showcasing the deepaffection and selfless commitment teachers have for their students.
