Plot Synopsis

Ri Guang Zhi Cheng tells the inspiring story of six young individuals, led by Suo Lang, as they seek self-discovery andpursue their dreams in the vibrant landscape of Tibet. Among them are locals and aspiring dreamers from afar, all navigating the dynamic and rapidly developing city of Lhasa, filled with challenges and hope.

Set against the backdropof contemporary Lhasa, the narrative unfolds within three families across two generations. Tu Deng, a dedicated master of Tibetan opera, faces a series of setbacks as his eldest son, Suo Lang, quits hispublic service job to venture into business, accumulating significant debt. Meanwhile, his younger son, Za Xi, expresses a desire to sing Tibetan opera instead of becoming a doctor, and his eldest daughter, Qu Zong, grapples with romantic troubles.

In another household, Tibetan doctor Dan Zeng dreams of retiring with his wife, Qiao Yan Ru, only to be blindsided by her request for a divorce. Their daughter, Da Zhen, returns to Lhasa, caught between thepressures of family and her career.

As the story unfolds, Jiu Mei, a soon-to-retire equestrian, faces apivotal decision about her athletic future, while her younger sister, Ge Sang, secretly travels to Lhasa topursue her dream of becoming apilot.

Through conflicts and misunderstandings, Suo Lang and Da Zhen evolve from adversaries topartners, deciding to start a business together. With the support of a visiting doctor, Za Xi finds his true calling, while Qu Zong discovers her own happiness. Jiu Mei chooses to chase her dreams despite stability, and Ge Sang overcomes hurdles to embark on her flying journey. The film beautifully captures the resilience and aspirations of contemporary Tibetan youth as they carve out theirpaths in a changing world.
